Snow Skiing in the Andes

Thursday we got to go snow skiing in the Andes. I can not begin to tell you how incredible it was. The Andes stretch on forever, there is no end to these mountains and when you combine that with no trees you get the most unreal views that blow you mind. Everything is exposed for miles in every direction. Me and the boys used a really cool deal from our phone carrier where we got 2 for one deal, rented some equipment, hopped a bus and went up to Valie Navada. Its still early in the season, so there wasn’t too much fresh snow, and a few of the lifts were still closed but it was AMAZING! Skiing a the end of July, wow. Andrew, the one form Colorado, immediately started showing us how it was done, his form was perfect and he knew where to go to get the best snow. We skied mostly down in valleys where there was still fresh powder snow. The interesting thing about the Ski resorts here is that you can ski into other resorts, and if you are dumb gringos like us to try and go up other companies ski lifts, and they look at you like you crazy. So you have to keep your map out and stay in the one resort you paid for.

We all got pretty wiped out from a full day of skiing and crashed on the bus home. When we got back to our place we had one thought on our mind – FOOD and bed. So we took turns showering and cooking a big meal of stakes and mashed potatoes and such. We had 2 Georgia Tech buddies, Brittany Mays and Corrigan Nolan staying at our place last week while they searched out an apt so they were there with Sean playing board games. We also apparently had 2 coach surfers staying at our place that night too. So it was already a packed house so we ate outside on the balcony. Then out of no where about 8 Start Up Chile buddies of ours walk into the apt with a pizza and 4 bottles of whine. Apparently our apt has become the hang out spot… and as tired as we were we loved it. We all love having people over, just relaxing and hanging out. We had over 10 countries represented, just chilling, telling stories and drinking some whine. Later upon realizing how many people hadn’t seen Gladiator, we pulled out the air mattress and the couch and put it on the TV and all curled up and watch a movie together. It’s the simple things that are so lovely. What a day.
